Experience switching from ORlogging to RTlogging in 8.1

We are experiencing system slowdown when logs get big and severe slowdowns when purging logs in version 8.1 server jobs. In DSparams we have RTlogging=0 and ORlogging=1. We are considering switching back to RTlogging in the hopes that we will not see the slowdowns we are currently experiencing. Does anyone know any downside to doing this?
