Autosys Vs Job Sequencer

Post by avenki77 »

Hi All,

I am trying to find the advantages / disadvantages between using Job Sequencer available in 8.1 and using (unix wrapper script + Autosys) Combination.

I did find a topic regarding this, but that is way back from 2005, when Job sequencer might have had limited capabilities.

viewtopic.php?t=93033&sid=14863ffaab5d0 ... 66603f76c2

But can you pls share your thoughts with the current version of datastage job sequencer against autosys?

Thanks in advance.

Sequence jobs haven't changed significantly and I for one wouldn't really compare them directly to Autosys or any other kind of scheduler. I've used Enterprise schedulers to run Sequence jobs, the Sequence jobs control the dependencies between the jobs, notifications, etc. That way you as the ETL developer have full control over all of the subtleties of the job streams and the only part you have to delegate to another group is when to kick the dang thing off.
