cannot see XML stages after installing 7.5.3

Post by actiview »

Hi,
I have installed Datastage version 7.5.3 on linux server.

I cannot see the xml stages on the designer.

In the install log I see that I got this error :

"Installing Plugin package 'xmli' in project 'template'
This directory does not contain a Datastage package.
Aborting package instaliation. "

I can see all the other stages.

I am using another linux server with datastage 7.5.1 and I can see the XML.

Can I copy files from the old server to the new one?

thanks in Advance

I'm sorry but I don't remember whether/if the xmlpack2 stages could be installed separately....it's been too long since I've been on 7.5... I recall strange times when I needed to re-register the gui side of it (at the client, if you get the little "plug" boxes instead of the xml icons...but not sure about the server side. Might be best if you called support, unless someone else remembers or had thi happen recently in their 7.5 environment.

As noted, time to call your official support provider.

You cannot just copy the files. You need to go back and re-start the 7.5.3 install. It has been a while since I've done it, but you just want to install plug-ins (it is one of the options when you restart an install on an existing system).

There are actually three pages of plug-ins to select from, but most people don't realize it doesn't show you pages 2 or 3 unless you request it. So they just check the ones on the first page and hit "Next".

I think the XML plug-ins you are looking for are on the 2nd or 3rd screen.

However, it seems that they were in fact selected, not sure how else you would get the posted failure message during the server install. :?

Oops yah, my bad. Thought he got that error in the designer, if its an install error message that almost sounds like a corrupted installation file of some sort. Time to call IBM. Still not going to recommend using XML plugin from 7.5.1 with 7.5.3 and manually copying the files. There's several years (as in about 5?) difference in release dates between those releases, probably a lot of differences in the plug-ins.
