Information on Demand 2009 news

Post by vmcburney »

I've got some IBM IOD conference news on the blog but the DataStage and QualityStage roadmap sessions are tomorrow. The main news is that DataStage and QualityStage will soon be available on the IBM cloud, a bunch of DSXChange top posters are now IBM Information Champions:
At IOD 2009 IBM Goes Bonkers for Analytics
Cognos Opens up its Reports to Mashups
IBM is Stampeding Products onto the Cloud

Anyone else got news?

A little old, perhaps but something I just read. Curious if there's been any IBM attention to it.

Very cool - all roads lead to Vincent... :-P

Vincent, Ray and any other attendees - I know you guys are pretty good at getting your hands on copies of the presentations. Can you please either email them or put them somewhere group accessable? I know the rest of us would love to see what they are announcing about 8.5 and beyond.

Should be on the blog later this week. There are a few tidbits on my Twitter stream! My favourite was all the support tools coming out to diagnose, check system requirements, check config settings, check pre requisites before you try and install version 8.

Does it check your sanity? Should be required before attempting an upgrade - if you are even partially unstable it could send you over the edge!

I think it monitors your heart rate and pupil dilation and freezes the install if you show signs of having a breakdown.

It's apparently supposed to go out and find all the various appropriate logs for you too...

There's another cool tool called (tentatively) Watchdog for InfoSphere that can set up and monitor events of various kinds all over the InfoSphere range of products. This one is still very much in the requirements gathering phase (one good reason to come to IOD is to have a play with, and provide input to, these new pieces). But it looks like a useful piece to have.

The DataStage 2010 roadmap is now available on the blog so you can find out what has come out in the second half of this year and what is coming next year.

Thanks Vincent!

Just spent 30 minutes broadcasting your blog in a mtg so the etl team here at St. Jude could take a quick look at it.

Keep up the good work! Enjoy sleeping for 14 hours while you cross the pond!

St Jude were there, and even presented. So at least some of them are probably up to speed.

I think, for whatever reason, everyone comes away from the conference exhausted. It'll take a couple of days for everything to settle.
