Description as comment in tables

Post by prasad111 »

Hi,

Is it possible to get the Description of the column [ For example oracle Stage --> Input tab --> columns tab --> Description Company name]

Can we get the Company name in the above description as comment in target table in oracle stage or ODBC stage in either server or parallel job, as we are using Generate DDL for creating the table.

Thanks for your replies.

Thanks & Regards
Prasad

If you want to add comments to tables you are creating in your jobs, you'll need to switch the Generated DDL to User-defined and then add the comment clauses manually. Which means it can't be data driven.

That is if I am following your requirement, which I'm not sure I am. :?

Thanks for the reply,
So datastage will not carry the content in Description as comment in the database table unless an user defined SQL. I think its easier to add comment in database level.

Thanks

Yes, it would be. DataStage is an ETL tool, not a database management tool like Enterprise Manager.
