DS v751 install on the same box as DS v801

Post by aakashahuja »

Hi,

Does any body know of any known issues which arise when a DS v751 client is installed on the same box / LPar as DS v801 (we have domain / metadata rep. layer on a different box than the engine layer)?

Also, are there any specifics to be kept in mind before / while performing this kind of a setup?

Additional info : DS v801 was installed before DS v751.

Cheers
Aakash

Version 7.5 can not use the default shared memory key (since version 8.0 is already using it) - you will need to make the version 7.5 server install an "itag" install. Apart from that (and apart from the usual caveats) it should be OK.

The clients install in separate locations so no problems with those. Note, however, that you can only have one client version active at a time - use the client switcher (Multi Client Manager) to switch between them.

From memory, there should be a "multiserv.pdf" document in your Docs folder that will detail the "itag" installation instructions.

It gets installed on your client PC in your Docs under the Ascential directory where you installed the client, along with all the other documentation pdfs.

:? Don't know any reason why it wouldn't be there. How about asking one of your colleagues?

Ok - the advice there, AFAIK, is strictly for any "pre-8" release. And both older versions should have installed that doc. Send me a private message with your email.
