Hello and welcome to DSXchange, run4jeet.

The question is so broad that you won't really get a good answer here.

If you go to IBM Websiteand type in "DataStage 8" in the search window you will get 1373 documents to choose from that will hopefully go towards answering that question.

Once you have specific questions you can post them here and I'm sure you will get many responses.

Or to broaden the question even further, DataStage becomes part of 'Information Server' at release 8

Another angle to look is...
Do you have the DS Client installed? Your posting shows you have 8.X on Linux and you certainly have DS Client 8.X on your local system, correct?

The PDF docs are part of the client install and that is one place to start.
Start/All Programs/IBM Information Server/Documentation or
C:\IBM\InformationServer\Documentation\bookshelf.html (If you have installed your client on C: drive at default folder)

Additional links, tips, troubleshooting, sharing is always at DSXChange.com and a few other sites.

Good luck,
-V
