Average IADB size?

Post by cppwiz »

The documentation for Information Analyzer states that 1 GB is the minimum size for IADB.

http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.w ... space_unix

However in our first column analysis job, we found that we need more than 10 GB to analyze 160 tables and the job failed because of a lack of space.

Is there a way to calculate what the size of IADB should be? What is a good starting size for IADB since the 1 GB minimum is a totally bogus minimum size?

The rule of thumb (from a conversation at IOD 2009) is three to four times the volume of data to be profiled.

Thanks Ray! Our jobs finished yesterday and it looks like your rule of thumb is accurate. It took 16 GB of space in IADB to store a column analysis on a 6.7 GB database.
