reconnect datastage with SAP

I use Ascential's SAP BW Pack and have a similar problem. If BW is down, the
RFC server manager stops the rfc server, but does not re-start when BW returns.
Within the configuration file is a parameter called "RFCENABLED". If this is set
to "TRUE", the RFC server manager will restart it. I have a shell script that
monitors the RFC servers and if one is missing, then it edits the associated
config file and changes the line "RFCENABLED=FALSE" to "RFCENABLED=TRUE" and
sends me an email. When the BW server returns, the connection is re-established.

Subject: reconnect datastage with SAP

Hi,

We are using datastage with a connection to SAP using one RFC call.
When SAP goes down (datastage stays active) there is always a problem with
the RFC connection.
In SAP we get the error: program not registered. It is easy to register
but this can not be automated.
Afterwards I restart the rfc connection using the datastage administrator.
Is there a parameter that can be used to ask datastage to resync with SAP.
Meaning trying several times during a specific period if SAP is restarted
or active.

(There is such a parameter for oracle processes : reconnect.)

thanks
Johan

Hi,

Thanks.

The parameter RFCENABLED was set to TRUE. I do not change it. But the
problem remains.
(using SAP BW pack)
