format.conv on >2GB files flunking on Compaq/Dec Alpha to HP

Trying to move large files (64BIT) from a DEC alpha to HP and FORMAT.CONV ( fnuxi ). It fails. I get blink errors & "available memory exceeded" with bomb out of uv & coredump.

All 3 of the >2GB files have these same troubles.

My experience is you can only READSEQ large files.
We have some very large records in type 1 and 19 files and get the same error if you try to edit or list.

I only remember that there was a new option in the fnuxi command to handle 64 bit files (moving from 64 backwards). I think the release notes had a mention of it. Dont remember ever running on >2GB files tho.
