DataStage and Oracle on Different Unix Machines

Post by admin »

Hi
I have a situation in which I need to Install DataStage 4.0 Server on one Unix Machine and underlying database Oracle on other Unix Machine to do the load balancing If this is possible then what could be the entries in dsenv file for path of oracle home and oracle bin dir. any other thing which is required for this. thanks and regards Sudhir Mahendru GTS/APHO-ITA/CA$H/IDMS-Datawarehouse

Even though you have the Oracle database on another server, you will still need to install the Oracle client on the server where you have DataStage. Installing the Oracle client will set up an Oracle Home and a bin directory. These are the ones to tell DataStage.

Yes, what you are doing is possible and probably quite common.

At run time, DataStage is a client application, and Oracle is a database server. Its as simple as that, irrespective of how the topology is organized.
