DataStage 4.0 & ODBCInformix Tech support called me today. They say they are contacting all customers who use DS 4.0. There is a major bug in ODBC stages. Attached is the email describing it in detail. There is not a fix yet, engineering is working on it. An upgrade will be shipped when the fix is in place.

Ignoring the risk of being flamed by my ex colleagues at VMARK:

What is the simplest scenario that exhibits this behaviour, and why was this not found during the extensive QA that goes on when releasing a product to the consumer?

Its not satisfactory but there IS a workaround - yes, I know you all have hundreds of jobs. However, if one is critical, you can use multiple ODBC stages each with a single input link, rather than a single ODBC stage with multiple input links.

DataStage 4.0 & ODBC

Post by admin »

What is the simplest scenario that exhibits this behaviour?

The simplest scenario is where you are upgrading an existing 3.x job that has an ODBC stage with multiple inputs, and you want the operations on each link to be separate transactions rather than the same transaction.

Since Im not part of the QA organization, I cant answer the second part of Phils question.
