Jobs Lock Patch

Post by admin »

Hi Ray,

Youve gotten my curiousity up. In reference to "jobs hanging", you and others have mentioned a patch that can be applied to DS 3.6+ to fix it. I notice in your email to Avinash that its available for release 3.6.3r2 and above.

Did you mean to say 3.6.2r2? Not 3.6.3r2? The reason Im wondering is were upgrading to 3.6.2Er1 next month. We have a multiprocessor kernel (4-pack Pentium IIs, 200mz) with a gig of memory on our NT server. But still, we get jobs hanging on completion or when finishing up writing to hashed files. Mind you, we do a lot of concurrent processing with job control jobs calling others several levels deep.

If a patch is out there to stop some of the job hanging issues, Id like to know how I can go about getting it so we can apply it when we upgrade.

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Youve got my attention too, as I was under the impression that fix to the job hanging problem was a patch to 4.01 or part of the soon to be released 4.02.

It is possible we are talking about different problems. The patch I am referring to fixes a couple of problems to do with naming the files in &PH&.

Mind though, we are still running 3.5r2, so if we are going to upgrade it may as well be to 4.
