Remote update

Is it possible to run DataStage on Unix box and update Informix database resided on the different server (with no DataStage installed) ?

Yes, it is. We have Datastage running on a seperate Unix server and update Informix and Redbrick tables on remote servers.

You just need to set up the various odbc links to the remote servers (from the Datastage server)

Just for interests sake, I have just been informed that our company will be migrating from the Unix version of Datastage to the NT version of Datastage.

Weve been having problems and the maintenance and support for NT is easier than on Unix. Were hoping that it will be more stable on NT. The people weve spoken to all run on NT and are happy with their systems.

Has anyone else had experience on both platforms ? What is your opinion about this ?

How about dsenv file? Lets say, we have two DS projects which go against different Informix servers/instances (different boxes, one is remote server). But I guess we can specify one Informix server name only in dsenv...
