Subtract the funny number from 65536 and you get the "user number" of the phantom.

Its a convenient way to differentiate phantoms from other processes. It is really only representing the same number as signed or unsigned. Some of the client tools in DataStage show the phantoms user number as a negative number; indicating that the process is a phantom process.
