Problem with ORAOCI8 plug-in

We are fairly new users of DataStage 4.1.1B on HPUX 11.00. Yesterday, when trying to access an OCI stage, I received the following message:
ds_loadlibrary: error in dlopen - Dynamic Error.
While working with Ascential support, we unregistered, deleted and re-installed the ORAOCI8 plug-in. When attempting to register the plug-in or import a table definition we now get this message: Unable to register plug-in.
We did install some Unix patches over the weekend, which may have caused the problem, but removing those patches is not an option. One suggestion from Ascential is to upgrade to 4.2. However, we have no assurance that this will fix the problem and we would like to avoid this if possible because of the testing required in order to install an upgrade to our production environment. Does anyone have any ideas?
