What are batch files? How do we create them?

Do you mean Windows (DOS) BAT files or DataStage batches? Or something else entirely?

'Job Control' code, typically written by hand. Director: Tools / Batch / New... if we are talking DataStage 'batches', that is.

Batch files--> .bat extension files used by DOS and Windoze systems to automate operating system commands

Batch jobs--> DS Server based jobs consisting purely of DS BASIC logic, often used to call DS job control APIs.
