Problems linking File with Look up

Hi all
I have a problem.
I am reading data from a file and I have a look up (hashfile).
To link the source file to the hashfile I check the source file column that is supposed to link to the key in the hash file if it is between two values:if that is the case I then use column 1 as the "key" of the look up else I use the second column ofhe look up.
I have tried the above method but it does not seem to work.....
Does anyone know of a better way?

Tania,

lookups to hashed files need to specify the full key, there are no range lookups supported. If you search the forum for "range lookups" and hashed files you will find that this problem has surfaced many times and there are various solutions available depending upon your requirements.
