Problem with Datastage Upgrade

Post by ivar38 »

DSXchange Members,

I have a problem while upgrading the DS from 7.1.0.8 t0 7.5.1.A on Sun Solaris 2.8 Machine.

I have 6 projects (All Server Jobs). When I did the upgrade, it completed with 2 warnings, only two of my projects got upgraded. Other 4 was not!!

This is what I found in the Log file:

Copying 'Template' project files
Error: child process timeout, killing pid (12807)
Error: child process timeout, killing pid (12807)

Warning: command 'uvsh UPDATE.ACCOUNT' returned (9).
PRINTER memory segment removed
1 record copied.

Warning: Errors detected during project configuration

Contact technical support. You'll probably have to create the projects fresh and then import the jobs if tech support can't help you fix the issue.

Seems like you were trying to upgrade with DataStage not being stopped properly....PID's orphaned is a indicator.....

You should'nt have to reload them. I don't recall off the top of my head, but there are commands you can issue that will upgrade either a job or all jobs in a project. Support will be able to give you the command.

Dear Members,

Initially before doing the upgrade under "root", we tried doing it using "Sudo" for root. I got similar errors but installation completed succesfully. Really it did not complete.. The projects did not get configured and only 2 projects got upgraded. That is where we contacted the IBM people. They asked us to do it under "root". We did it and still have same problem.

Could this be all because we initially did it under Sudo??

Please advice..

Thanks,
