DS Linux Install error

Hi guys

I am installing DS 7.5A on Red Hat. The following is detail on the server:
  • Linux hostname 2.4.21-20.0.1.ELsmp #1 SMP Wed Nov 24 20:34:01 EST 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
    glibc-common-2.3.2-95.30
The environment variables are all set correctly.
during install as non-root or root user (dsadm) the following errors crop up:
Initializing unohist file
uvregen: reconfiguration complete, disk segment size is 4575648
Booting engine version 7.5.1.1 instance "ade"
Modifying home location to /udd001/app/dsadm/Ascential/DataStage/DSEngine
Cannot acquire exclusive access to signature table. Unable to obtain entry for '10726'.
This is the first time I have run into something like this, and google is'nt full of help on signature tables.

The specs on a server I have installed DS7.5A on are as follows:
  • Linux hostname 2.4.21-20.EL #1 Aug 18 20:58:25 EDT i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
    glibc-common 2.3.2-95.27
As you can see, the version I am currently installing on is higher than the one I have installed on. Is kernel downgrade the answer - can it make such a difference to the installation? I would understand an older kernel causing chaos; I would imagine a later kernel would be backward compatible. (but I could be mistaken!).

Any ideas on the signature table error?
