Cross language compatability of Datastage

Post by sankarsadasivan »

Will the following configuration work
* DataStage server(Japanese) on a machine with the English version of the OS
* DataStage Client(Englisg) on English version of the OS
* Database(Japanese) on on English version of the OS

For this, do we need to make any special settings.
Anybody has any info?

Pls help,
Thanks.

You may need NLS.

I remember back in the day that we had to install Japanese server on a japanese version of the OS (which might in turn run in english-only mode). The README file is quite clear on this, so it would be best to look at that as the more accurate reference of what is supported on AIX.

The Japanese client can be installed on an english PC but you need to load the Japanese fonts (best to load the Japanese MSIME which also contains the font sets needed)

The Database answer is one best responded in the appropriate Oracle/DB2/Sybase/SQL-Server/Access, etc. forum :)

What Arnd said.

One interesting thing is that the DSX export file is transportable. Often the support center in Sydney (Australia) received DSX files from Japan, Korea, and so on. By simply changing the Character Set property in the DSX file's header, they could import onto an English DataStage system (with NLS enabled).
