Hi Venkatesh,

The Datastage Basic pdf manual should have been installed on your machine when the Datastage Client was installed. If you don't have a short cut automatically created to the documents through you start menu you can search through your installation directory for the pdfs.

If you find that you don't have them at all, you can download a copy from the IBM website. Search through this forum to get a link to them.

Generally writing BASIC commands is an iterative process.
Whatever u require...u can search from the BASIC.PDF and use it.

Also giving a search with string "Routine" on the forum will give you idea

about how to effectively use Basic with respect to real time senario.....

thanks

from within Designer, press F1. In the search box, type in BASIC. One of the returned objects will be "Alphabetical listing of BASIC commands". There you will find vast amounts of information on any/all of the BASIC commands available in DS.

Edit the routines which come with DataStage. Try to figure them out. Ask when you do not understand something.

Only some of them are in the on-line Help, ostensibly the useful ones (though all the trigonometric functions are there  ). The remainder are in the DataStage BASIC manual.
