Updating Z_RFC_DS_SERVICE function

Hi forumers.....
The Z_RFC_DS_SERVICE is a SAP function and it is used for making the connection between DS and SAP.
As we are making tests to migrate from 5.2 to 7.5, we need to update this function inside SAP environment.
I have three questions
1) If we update the function, can we make a rollback to the previous function ? I can backup the previous function (before updating it), but my doubt is if a simple copy is enough.
2) Is there any parameter in any table to update ?
3) Any other consideration about this topic ?
