Dear All,

When ever I am trying to connect to the Datastage Director with the valid userid and password I am getting following error for which I am unable to proceed further. The userid is working for last one year and suddenly id stops from yesterday. I reset the password and tried again but still facing
the same problem. The error I am getting is

"Failed to connect to Host system .Project UV
(User Name and/or password incorrect (80011))"

Waiting for a input from all.

Waiting for a input from all. But when I am using the administrator userid I do not face any problem to connect to the director and when I give the administrator privilage to above userid than I do not face any problem.

Looks to me that authorities for the users and groups have changed.

Datastage offers a user group based authentication. log in to administrator and check if your user group has the required permissions to edit the datastge jobs.

Check the following:
1.) Login to DataStage as dsadm user
2.) Login to Unix as your normal user (and password)
3.) Identify whether any firewall has been created on the DS Server
4.) Check whether your group permissions have been altered.
5.) Login to DataStage from another client which may be within the domain network.

Observation: when things stop working, the statement "nothing has changed" is false.

Dear Sainath.Srinivasan,

How to Identify whether any firewall has been created on the DS Server
and how to check whether your group permissions have been altered.

As I have checked in the windows environment that no group permission has been altered. It only work with Administrator user and not with any other user.

Perform a ping and telnet to the ipaddress. See whether you are successful.

When you said you can login if the user has administrative priviledges, does it imply admin priv on your local PC or on the DS Server ?

Also are you running DS from your local PC itself?

That shows that you do not have firewall problems but have permission issues in the DataStage Server.

Login to DS Admin and check whether you are in Developer list.

For that project, check the properties -> permissions.

Dear Sainath,

Mentioned problem is not project specific. It is occuring whenever we try to enter director with userid/password.List of projects is not opening up in director. So how does your suggestion of checking the project properties will help solve problem ? More over which project we need to check for permissions ?
Please help out.

Before doing the main task, note down the group name of the user which you are trying to login as.

Do the following task:

1. Login to DS Administrator using ADMINSTRATOR id
2. Goto Project tab and select whichever project you need to work for, then, click Properties
3. Goto Permissions tab and you will see list of Groups with appropriate permissions
4. Check the permission for the group name which you have made a note
5. If that is none, you need to give appropriate permission for the group and try to login afterward.

Hope this helps
Regards
Ahmed.
