DB2/400 ODBC Connection with wire protocol driver

Post by sivap »

Hi
I am using DB2 Wire Protocol Driver. DB2 on AS400. While binding the Package I am getting the Warning String Conversion Truncation.
Whlie testing the connection it is showing connection Established.

If i am using that DSN while importing Table Definitions it is showing No Mathes. and not showing the tables in the database.

Hi,
As far as I remember a DB over there is actually a dircetory.
Now I worked a few years back with DS 4.2.1 in similar env.
we used the client access odbc driver back then.
The thing was that they had no idea that a real DB2 db sould have been created using the create collection command (if my memory serves me)
they simply used files and put some jornals on them and that was it.
Now I hope this is not your case?!
other then that I had a similar issue with Oracle once and it was a DB configuration problem that was eventually resolved by DBAs (secretly, they never said, perhaps even knew, why).

So you might be facing a configuration/permition problem.

another thing that comes to mind is do you have a default directory/library? it might be the cause you see nothing if you get a default library with no DB in it.

It was all so long ago (about 2001) I hope some of this helps in some way :)
