datastage running on windows 2003??

Post by christy »

We are moving from win 2K to windows 2003 server. I had datastage 5.2 installed on the win 2k machine. Datastage 5.2 seems to have problems running on windows 2003 server.

Did anyone have 7.1 running on a 2003 server?

7.5 is running well on it. I would skip earlier versions.

It does appear that hash files with multi-column primary keys in which one column is null are acting differently. At 5.2, I do not think these rows were being loaded into the hash file.

To be more specific, the error I am seeing is "The connection is broken (81002)". That seems to bring the whole server down! After that error. no service can be stopped/started again. I need to reboot the server to fix the problem. Hope that 7.1 would fix my problem :)

As Chuck mentioned - go straight to 7.5 if you can.

DataStage 5.2 is NOT supported on W2k3.

Usually, Ascential hold back their support when they have one of the following 2 situations:

1. It was never tested on that platform.
2. There are well known problems with that platform for that version.

Nuff said. I strongly recommends upgrading to 7.5.1 when it becomes available (either now, or real soon now.)

Wow... wonder what were the symptoms for the bad install.

So, no one has had good experience running 7.1 on windows 2003 server platform :(

It is not that some have had a bad experience with 7.1, but reviewing the release notes for 7.5 and 7.5.1 implies that some important issues were fixed. That is the primary reason I recommend 7.5 or greater.

Release notes are a wonderful thing.
