Harithay,

Very few will disagree with Ken Bland's observation to your latest post on the dsxchange. There are a bunch of very experienced and knowledeable people here who help solve lot of problems others face. But it doesn't serve anybody any good if one repeatedly asks questions without doing any obvious homework. To help strengthen your endervors, you may want to the following:

I think you will save a lot of time by reading the Datawarehousing Toolkit book by Ralph Kimball -- this will tell you about datawarehousing in general and help you understand answers to questions like "whats a factless fact table", "whats slice and dice" etc .. the dsxchange forum is probably not the right forum for such questions. You may also subscribe (free) to datawarehousing.com forum, where these questions are more appropriate.

Read the datastage manuals and search the dsxchange.com (and also google.com) before asking datastage related questions here -- most likely, somebody has already asked the question before, and its been answered.

What kind of file manupilation did you want to do ? (pls tell us more about your problem) It could help to do a lookup on the unix utilities grep, awk, sed etc on google.com.
