Hi,
I am trying to insert/update rows in a table. We have to maintain history , type 2 SCD. Whats the best way of implementing it. When ever I lookup against the table for update or inserts what is the best practise and how do i get the max timestamp row for a matching key when ever there is a update.
Thanks!!!!!!!!
Mack

Best practice is to pre-load a lookup source (for example a hashed file) with the current values and to maintain this during the load process.

Search the forum for "Type 2", "lock for update" and "slowly changing dimension" for techniques.
