Connectivity to DataStage (81016 error)

Post by ewartpm »

I can log into DataStage when I select the 'Omit' button. However, when I enter a valid user name and password I get the 81016 error :x

I also cannot use 'localhost' as the server name, get the same error, I have to use the server name.

Any ideas on how to fix this :?:

Many thanks

Has been discussed a few times before:

Do you run the actual DataStage server on windows or on UNIX?

I'm using Windows 2000 Professional. I have checked all the services, all are running. Just seems strange that I can't specify a user name/password when I login to DS.

This might be a need to get the user name right. Have you tried:
  • username
    machinename\username
    domainname\username
Did all three fail?

Try connecting via telnet (Start > Run > telnet machineID); your Windows authentication should be OK here.
Select the UV account.
Shell out to the operating system with the command DOS.
Look for a file called dsinstall.txt. This should show you the identity of the intalling and administrative user. You could try connecting from your client using either of these.
