Are there any best practice document available for new beginners in DS.

I don't currently have acces to the Ascential Developer net site whre there might be some ?!

There is a DataStage Best Practices training course that you can go on. You can also do some forum searches on this site looking up some key words (depending on what best practices you are talking about).

Try some searches for results with the following word combinations:
Slowly Changing Dimension
Version Control
Naming Standards
Development Testing Production
Restart

Look for threads that have a lot of views, add them to your favourites as you go to build up your own best practices list.
