Hi
I am trying to use Oracle 1og database with datastage 7. I am having difficulties in retrieving date using odbc or native oracle drivers. Any suggestions? (I only have 8i,9i,OCI drivers installed)

Hi,
Can you specify what errors/messages you encounter while trying to retreive the data?

The error says that Oracle client and networking components have not been found and need to be installed. These components are present in7.3 version and later.

Hi,
Is Oracle 10g supported in DataStage 7.1?
This may be a reason for the error message.

I doubt it. Don't remember that even being mentioned as part of 7.5.

Have you tried pointing DataStage's $ORACLE_HOME environment variable to a 9i client and then using the 9i client via an OCI9 stage to access the 10g database? Does that work?

It's an old trick I've used before when 9i was brand new. We used an 8i client and an OCI8 stage to talk to our 9i databases for awhile.

In "What's New for DataStage 7[1].5 PDF Document under
Database Management Update It mentions of support of Oracel 10g

But the other trick you have mentioned has worked for me alsofor Oracle 9i.

So it does! Does that mean we get an OCI10 stage? Guess not... to quote: "The Oracle OCI 9i server-side plug-in has been renamed to 'Oracle OCI' as it nows support Oracle 10g."

Can you please inform in detail about how to do that.
