Most of the "tasks" are decisions to be made up-front, such as configuring connectivity and security. From time to time, minor changes may need to be made to connectivity (for example additional data sources). There are surprisingly few of these tasks, which is why the DataStage Administrator's Guide is such a thin volume.
By and large the DataStage Repository takes care of itself, requiring minimal ongoing maintenance. The main one is backups; you basically have two choices, DataStage export (easier to restore) or regular system backup. Or both.
Another part of administration (which can be delegated) is controlling what gets from development into testing and then into production. Version Control for DataStage (it's on the DataStage CD) can help with this.
Management (as opposed to administration) can include documentation, standards, allocation of tasks to developers, and so on.
