ODBC for MS Access

Post by vbalacts »

Hi,

I am using DataStage V5.2.1 running on UNIX. Is it possible to connect to MS Access tables? I dont want to export the Access tables to flat files and then processing. Is there any way to directly ready the MS Access tables (thro ODBC) and populate it to Oracle? Please help me in this regard.

Someone, somewhere, may have written a UNIX-based ODBC driver for Microsoft Access (why is an entirely different question). Search on the Web for one.
ODBC performance is well below sequential file performance; in your situation I would strongly be considering the flat file approach, purely for performance reasons, particularly since a network segment is involved.
