Hi

We are currently undergoing a scoping exercise for a forthcoming upgrade from DS 4.02 to DS.6.0xx

Our site config is as follows:

1. Three DataStage Servers (all on Ver 4.02) running on 3 different versions of Solaris (2.6, 2.7. and 2.8)
2. Oracle Databases accessed also vary in versions - this really gets tricky =>
a) Oracle 8.1.6, 8.1.7 on Solaris 2.6
b) Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 on Solaris 2.7
c) Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 on Solaris 2.8
All the datastage servers use ver 8 of the OCI Plug

Has anybody attempted to this scale of upgrade and are there any known problems in doing this[?][?][?]

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards

I believe DataStage 5 and 6 will not run on Sun Solaris 2.6. You will need to upgrade that server to 2.7 or 2.8 if you want it to remain a DataStage server. There is an unsupported workaround where you install a 2.7 component onto your 2.6 server to get DataStage working but it's safer to upgrade.

Your other two servers will be relatively easy. Just go through the standard upgrade and note the install instructions about updating your dsenv file and setting up your Oracle library paths.
