Hi there,

I will have no network/internet connection.
I have DataStage installed on my pc, and a local oracle db installation.
I'd like to have DataStage "read" a csv on my pc into a local oracle table.

Is this possible?

Thanks

DataStage will run on a stand alone NT machine. Since your source and destination are also on that machine you should not have a problem.

You will need some kind of connection, for example TCP/IP loopback (use address 127.0.0.1). You will also need to have your Oracle client correctly configured, particularly the environment variables such as ORACLE_HOME.
But, yes, it works quite happily; I've had such a configuration on various laptops over the years and run demonstrations and even some classes on the combination.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for your responses!
I forgot to mention that I have DataStage Client installed on my machine.
Basically whats happened is that I've been requested to import data into our existing oracle db(but i want to practice doing this on my own local db before i do anything on the network db).
A consultant installed the client software on my laptop. Currently, when i open up DataStage and am prompted to connect to the host system, I enter a network IP and a username and password. That IP is a solaris box.
Instead, I'd like to be able to log into DataStage on my own laptop - is this even possible?
If so what do enter for an IP, and what username and password do I use?

Thanks again!

Alas, to achive this you will need to spend more $$$$ to get a copy of DataStage server for Windows (and your machine will need to be running an appropriate O/S - that is WinNT, Win2K or (and I have some doubt about this) WinXP.

Or you could buy your own Sun Solaris server!

Either way, you have to spend $$$$ for second machine license.
