DataStage is, first and foremost, an ETL tool. That is, extraction, transformation and loading.
It has the ability to import table definitions (primarily to use for its own, ETL, purposes). These table definitions can be exported in a variety of formats, for example CSV, IMF (for INTEGRITY), XML, DSX. Foreign key relationships can also be recorded.
However, DataStage is not the appropriate tool for generating data dictionaries. Nor is MetaStage though, from MetaStage and using an appropriate MetaBroker, you can export table definitions to the CASE tool of your choice.
