IBM InfoSphere Information Server engine processes

Post by esivaprasad »

Hi,
we are installing datastage 8.5 version in sun solaris server in graphical mode, in this server already 7.5 datastage is exist.in same server we need to install and do work both versions of datastage.
we are not stopped existing 7.5 services in this service.
when installing 8.5 , we got warning that in requirement check step

"WARNING:No IBM InfoSphere Information Server engine processes can be running on the target computer.".
1.can we ignore this warning and proceed with installation.
or we need to stop existing version services.
2.in some other server we ignored that warning ang installed.
now my problem is can we start 7.5 services also brought up or not ?

please clarify on this confusion that
whether we can ignore and proceed installation ,if proceeded and installation completed, can we start we start 7.5 services also brought up.

Thanks in advance .....

We had this same warning and contacted IBM Concierge service concerning the issue.

After we were advised to shutdown the existing installation at first, we received this follow-up a couple of days later:

"I dbl checked requirement for bringing the existing IS 801 instance down to do side by side install, and I have good news, it is confirmed that you can keep the existing instance running, no need to shut down !!! This is valid since IS 85."

So You can safely ignore this message when installing IS 85 on Solaris.

can we start 7.5 services up or not .
if not what are things we need to check and confirm to restart 7.5 services up.

Was the new installation specifying the -itag option? If not, you've upgraded the old installation.

Have you contacted the IBM Concierge service that was mentioned above? There are certain instructions you should follow to get it to work...
