error msg "clear table is a required link property"

Does anyone know what this fatal error message ("clear table is a required link property") means? It is showing up on a random basis for jobs following installation of version 8.1. It occurs frequently when modifying a job (e.g. adding a column to a table) which had been running fine before the mod. We are experiencing it on jobs which insert data into Oracle (both versions 9i and 11g) with the Oracle OCI stage. Our workaround is to delete the job and recreate it by hand, not building upon any parts of the original job.
