Protected Ptoject question ?

Hi
Do we need to recompile all the jobs If I change a existing project to Protected Project ? It looked to me like that. I have created a project as unprotected and I changed it to protected. but when we ran the job it said job is not in the correct state even though in direcotr it shows as compiled.
Please clarify.
