Configuration

Installed datastage 8.1 on virtual machine (os linux).
installed client on vista home.

Do i need to edit the host file in vista?
Do i need to configure virtual machine?

I am able to log on by http://ip:9080, when i ping the machine with host name its not responding.

Please let me know what network configuration i need to perform like setting up of ipaddress config or DNS config or loopback adapter config

Yes, add the name and ip of the virtual machine to your Windows hosts file.

Before i do that

do you want me to set virtual machine configuration to static or dhcp

Well, DHCP wouldn't help much if you put a static IP in your hosts file, would it?
