Near Future Roadmap for Server Jobs

Im working on a project which uses a mix of Server and PX jobs, many of the server jobs are used where smaller data volumes undergo extensive transformation processing, as well as for certain features not available in parallel jobs without extra programming and costs to customer, ( Matches operator is one of the examples ).. Im just concerned about long term maintainability of server job code, As is , there are very few developers who have in-depth experience with DS Basic, and have mostly worked on Parallel jobs, Similarly , some sequencers are complex enough to make extensive use of User Variables and many constructs developed in BASIC code, Im concerned if the code being developed may become obsolete in the immediate future if IBM decides to do away with the server job engine.. Any thoughts?

Especially considering the fact that the "server engine" is what enables Sequence jobs to exist.

Actually there are very few developers who have in-depth experience with parallel jobs. Server job is going to stay forever.

Server Jobs need to be fully supported as long as PeopleSoft for EPM is still around as it gets bundled with that tool. Oracle upgrades to PeopleSoft-EPM ended in 2006 but the application has lifetime support - so it's possible DataStage 7.x will be around forever! As for DS 8 and beyond there has been no sign that IBM will drop server jobs and they are trying to make Connector stages compatible with server jobs so future versions could get better database connectivity (Netezza, Teradata etc).
