DataStage 7.5 server installation on AIX
Hello,
I want to install DataStage 7.5 server on AIX5.1 box. This will be my first time DataStage server installation. Is there anyway I can get step by step instruction for installation? Or any experienced DSXCHANGE people can guide me in this direction?
Thanks for your support in advance..
Regards,
Gaurav

It's a fairly simple process as server installs go, so you really shouldn't have any problems with it. And all of the steps are in the Installation and Upgrade Guide pdf in your Docs directory. Give that a good read and then let us know if you have any specific questions.

Craig nailed it quite right. The install is fairly simple for AIX. We have the same install you are getting ready to do and had little trouble with it (other than ignorance on our part as we did not fully RTFM). I suggest reading the Installation and Upgrade Guide fully before beginning the process and things should go fine.
One thing though, if I remember correctly there was a patch that had to be installed to fix a problem with the DataStage Designer. I strongly suggest downloading any patches that came out after your disc was stamped and install them when you have the initial install completed.
Other than that, you should be fine.
Good luck and have fun!

Wondering If its root install, if DSADM id having primary group assigned as "dstage" would work? or it require to have root authority too?
Thanks for your guidance....

Thanks They provided me root id password...Somehow assigning sudo privileges was big task (time wise/approval) for them, So, next thing will be login as root and install the ascential....only doubt was in my mind is how to define DSADM id as administrator..I think its part of installation...chulett wrote:A 'root install' means it is installed by the root superuser. I've also been able to do it as 'dsadm' via 'sudo' privledges granted by root to me on the install script.
Thanks again Craig

It was too difficult to arrange 'sudo' privledges so they just gave you the root password? Err... ok.
By default, 'dsadm' is the administrator id, nothing magical you have to do except under Tru64 from what I recall. All you should have to do is make sure it is created before you start the install.
