Review request-WP 'Finite Separation Band of Static H File'

Post by aakashahuja »

Hello DS gurus,

I have been doing some experiments on tuning hashed files and based on those, I managed to come up with a formula using which the optimum band on hashed file Separation could be estimated. The formula is depends on the row length.

I have the white paper and I want someone to have a look at it and let me know if my formula stands good. If you are interested, then please let me know of some place where I can stick my white paper so that it can be viewed by all.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers

Good Lord, Grasshopper - patience.

You'll need to find your own place to 'stick it' as there isn't one here. Yet. However, there are plenty of file sharing sites where you can upload it if you haven't got one of your own. I'm sure a google will turn up several choices.

Thanks for the reply Chullet. But the question is not a place where I can stick my paper. The question is can someone review my paper? I can email the paper to the concerned individuals if any one volunteers to help.

Well... that was certainly one of your questions. I'm sure someone could review it, but it would need to be someone intimately familiar with hashed files, one of the Old Guard here.

As to whether they would have the time or be so inclined, I cannot say.

Thanks for the reply Craig. No offenses intended, but this is what I thought this community to be all about - helping DS people with DS related problems.

I find it strange that 'help' here is only considered to be limited to naive people asking questions and experts answering. Guess I expected too much when asking experts to read a 8 page pdf.

Any ways, I am glad you replied.

Cheers

Hardly. As I noted in the first reply, patience is a virtue here. Not everyone checks in all the time nor has the time they'd need to do you justice. When they do, they'll chime in as Ken has.

Particularly on a weekend. You can send it to me, but I am REALLY BUSY at the moment, so it would have to be on the basis of "when I can get around to it". If that's not acceptable, please send it to someone else.
