question - DS 390

Post by tini »

I am new in this form therefore I don’t know I post this msg in right place or not. Anyway my question is about DS390. In order for you to create a Mainframe job, you need to create a copybook in the mainframe and import it to Datastage right?
Thanks

You don't HAVE to create the COBOL copybook on the mainframe - that's just one way to provide the "table definition" metadata to DataStage.
DataStage can import this from a CFD or from DCLGen, or you can even create the "table definitions" within DataStage, import them from selected CASE tools, and so on.
When you create COBOL (and JCL) using DataStage, the DATA DIVISION includes all the FD and WS items necessary to process the data, irrespective of where the "table definition" metadata were sourced.
