You can have a look at this guide for help-->

IBM Information Server Planning, Installation, and Configuration Guide

If you want to configure DS 8.x
First you need to create a user for the WebSphere Application Server.
And then you have to go to Datastage Administrator and map it.

As noted, it's a two step process.

Step 1 involves creating a "domain user" who can use things in the deployment domain (including the Information Server and Application Servers). A domain user can be described, among other things, as a DataStage administrator or a DataStage user.

Step 2 involves more explicitly defining the DataStage users, and mapping the one user ID onto the other.

Groups may be defined at each step for greater ease of management.

There is so too! A domain user is for the IBM Information Server domain, also referred to as the deployment domain.

Just been through the same thing, and found the following steps seemed to work for me:

1) set up the unix groups and users needed on the unix server
2) using internet explorer, log onto ibm information server
3) go to the datastage credentials section and make sure they are shared (I think this is the bit that caused the error for us)
4) create a group in ibm information server
5) create users in information server (matching those on the unix server)
6) assign roles to those users to allow them access to datastage - we just checked all the roles boxes to start off, once we have finished setup we will come back and lock it all down before any users get started!
