What are the preventive measures one could take to avoid locking his/others jobs ?

1. Always close clients properly.
2. Invest in hardware that means that you NEVER have network dropouts.
3. Never accidentally or deliberately disconnect the network.

Forbid the use of Monitor. This also locks jobs.

Does anyone open job properties in Manager? Lock! Ban their use of the Manager client for this purpose also.

Hi,

Even I face the same problem, could you please tell what shoudl be done once I get this problem... ususally I restart the Datastage Services... is it the only way to unlock a job ???

No. Determine the owner of the lock and its cause. Eliminate the cause.

There is also an UNLOCK command, or the DS.TOOLS menu. Search the forum for more details.

releasing locks

I think we can do this by the clean-up resources option in the director..the PID of the locked job will be shown..

This is true only if the lock is owned by a non-defunct process.
