I would recommend you start with the search link at the top of this page.
Searching for the phrase "RPC daemon is not running" gives me 34 matches.

I am getting this error if logon using Username / Pwd.
I am able to logon if I check Omit box to logon using NT credentials, and also I am fine logging onto DS server using Telnet services.
any idea, meanwhile I will try searching for similar posts.

try doing a dos telnet to the server using that userid and password ? Since you can connect it would seem the RPC daemon is working, so the cause must lie elsewhere.

Go to Control Panel --> DataStage.
Ensure that DSRPC service is running, else start the service.

All services are runing fine
1). DataStage and DSRPC services are up & running and are Automatic.
2). netstat -a | grep 31538
TCP FSS06:31538 FSS06:0 LISTENING
DS client componenets are sitting on Win-XP Pro.
I could find ArndW's posting.
I've seen some 'funnies' on ibm's machines when they get this problem (it was a mix of the ports being used by a telnet server they were using on the machines..)

I am working on IBM-Thinkpad with Win-XP Pro OS.

Try clicking on the Omit check box, as a workaround.
Can you telnet to the server (which uses port #23 rather than port #31538)?

If you have installed any new s/w(anti virus..). check to see if there are blocking the port.
