Generation of XML Header from another file

We are in process of generating XML output file.

<B>Process:</B>
a. We have 4 sequential source files containing data to be merged into a
single XML file.
b. The Header for the XML file contains which comes from the 5th
sequential file. The Header also contains some other information like
Message and Version.

We have merged the 4 sequential files, but are unable to generate the header with date field from the 5 the file as well as other information.

Also the job is running for a long time and needs to be stopped manually.
