currency conversion

i want to design a mapping for corrency conversion
based on a date. the following are the inputs.

Note: assume TOdays doller rate Rs 47.

Date| From currency| tocurrency| amount to be converted
2006/07/10| Rupee Rs| US $ | 1000

here my issue is how to convert indian rupee to US $ and $ is varying every day .and also how to write sub routine for this currency conversion

Note : The conversion rate to be used for writing the mathematical formula above is get from lookup table (every Day $ rate)

Do you HAVE the lookup table? How will it be maintained? For example, XE.com have a data feed service available.
