Hawk Enterprise Edition

Post by poorna_76 »

Hi All,

Currently we are on DataStage Server Edition 7.5.1A running on Windows 2000.

We are looking forward to upgrade to Enterprise Edition of Hawk, after the Hawk release.

Can we still run existing ServerJobs in EnterpriseEdition without any changes?

Is it mandatory to make all ServerJobs as SharedContainers and call it from Parallel job?

How big the effort is to convert the existing ServerJobs to Parallel jobs completely?

Thanks in Advance.

1) Yes, of course.

2) No, not at all.

3) Depends on the job, some would obviously be 'more easier' than others to convert. It's generally not considered a simple task, but I'll let others who have actually tackled that speak to it.

You do not need to do any drastic when you move to Enterprise Edition, everything will keep working just fine. You can do an incremental conversion of some of your largest jobs over to parallel and leave the rest server jobs.

I have a blog and a magazine article about this topic:
